According to reports, an MTA train in New York City was derailed this past Sunday morning after a man was seen throwing chunks of metal on to the train tracks.

The A train that was heading uptown was reportedly carrying 135 passengers and was pulling into the 14th Street station when it hit a large amount of debris, causing four wheels to be forced off of the track, according to the MTA’s Senior Vice President for Subways.

The train reportedly sideswiped about 10 steel beams in the middle of the track before coming to a halt. The swipe of the train caused massive chunks of metal to be peeled back on the train according to the incident report from police. As a result of the derailment, power was shut down on the A line from the Canal Street stop to 34th Street.

The police reportedly arrested a 30-year-old man who was held by bystanders until police arrived on the scene, but no charges have been brought up against the man as of yet.
