According to longtime sportscaster and journalist Dan Patrick, JAY-Z flexed significant muscle as it pertains to the Colin Kaepernick workout. While initial reports noted Hov as having "some influence," Patrick reports that Jay pressured the Roger Goodell and the NFL to set up the workout for Colin since he took a "reputational bullet" for the league by announcing the Roc Nation x NFL partnership.
"According to my source, JAY-Z said that he took a reputational bullet for the commissioner when they had that press conference [with] his new role in the NFL," said Patrick. "Social agenda. Social injustice. He was gonna help with the entertainment for halftime. All of this. My source said that JAY-Z was pressuring the commissioner to do the right thing and have this workout for Colin Kaepernick."
