Tyler Perry recently gave Gayle King a tour of his new 330-acre film complex in Atlanta, GA, which is bigger than the film studios at Disney, Warner Bros., and Paramount. Tyler is the first black American to own a film studio outright, and his lot features 12 top of the line sound stages, each named after black icons in Hollywood.
During the interview, Tyler also spoke about building the studio on a former confederate Army base. He then stated, "Think about the poetic justice in that. The Confederate Army is fighting to keep Negroes enslaved in America, fighting, strategy, planning on this very ground. And now this very ground is owned by me."
