Nine American tourists have reportedly died after vacationing in the Dominican Republic since April, and 31-year-old Tracy Jerome Jester Jr. of Georgia, who died on March 17, has been added to a list after his mother spoke to an FBI investigator. The U.S. State Department confirmed that it was aware of Jester's death.

Jester's mother, Melody Moore, spoke with ABC News and explained that he was on a trip with his sister when he fell ill. Moore added that she spoke to him the night before and he was in good spirits but she did remember him making a remark about drinking a soda that tasted off. Early the following morning, Moore's daughter called and said that Jester "just dropped to his knees and started throwing up blood." By 4:40 am, Jester had died.

Jester, who had lupus, died of "respiratory issues," according to officials in the Dominican Republic. Moore explained that she didn't get a toxicology test done when Jester's body was returned to the U.S. because reports of other tourist deaths in the country had not yet emerged.
