The Discovery Family cartoon series "My Little Pony" will be introducing a lesbian couple, Aunt Holiday and Auntie Lofty, for the first time in an upcoming episode. The episode has already aired in Europe and will be broadcast in the U.S. on Saturday (June 15). 

Co-showrunner Nicole Dubuc told Buzzfeed News the core of "My Little Pony" is to embrace what truly defines a family — love." 

This comes after long-running PBS show "Arthur" aired an episode with a gay wedding of Arthur's teacher, Mr. Ratburn. After creating some backlash with the episode, Alabama Public Television announced that they would be banning it from their station
