One of the foundational elements of hip-hop could soon be approved as a new Olympic sport set to debut for the 2024 games in Paris. Planners for the Olympic games are considering breakdancing as a sport in the senior division of the summer games after debuting in the Youth Olympics last year. The IOC is set to make a determination on breakdancing's inclusion in the games as it will for surfing, climbing, and skateboarding.
Three-time Olympic canoeing gold medalist and current head of the Paris 2024 organizing committee says that including breakdancing would make the games "more urban" and "more artistic."
