Update: Former Carolina Panthers player Rae Carruth was released from prison on Monday (October 22) morning. Carruth was seen being escorted out of the Sampson Correctional Facility in North Carolina, while an SUV was waiting to take him away.

According to reports, former Carolina Panthers player Rae Carruth is set to be released from prison after serving 18 years for the shooting of his pregnant girlfriend.

Carruth’s girlfriend was seven months pregnant at the time of her murder by a hitman who was paid by Carruth. As a result, Carruth was charged and convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, using an instrument to destroy an unborn child, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He was sentenced to 18-24 years in prison. Along with being caught, accomplices who aided Carruth were caught and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Now, after 19 years, Carruth will be released from the Sampson Correctional Facility in North Carolina on October 22.
