Barack Obama has been quiet with regard to his successor in the White House. Many of Obama's critiques of 45 have been tepid, at best. But the former president changed his tune a bit while accepting an award at the University of Illinois. Obama decided to go after Trump, specifically concerning how he handled the Charlottesville situation as well as his constant attacks on the media.

With regard to Charlottesville, Obama asked, "How hard can that be? Saying that Nazis are bad?" Adding that America is supposed to "stand up to bullies, not follow them." Obama also said that despite his issues with Fox News during his presidency, he never called them enemies of the state as Trump frequently refers to the American news media.
