Kanye West set off a firestorm following his pro-Trump tweets after his recent return to Twitter. The famed Chicago rapper/producer revealed that he is a fan of the president, explaining that Donald Trump is his “brother” and they both have “dragon energy.”

“You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone,” West tweeted on Wednesday, April 25. “I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.”

West’s comments shook his core fanbase and friends as many are puzzled that Ye could align himself with Trump, including Questlove of The Roots. During an interview with Buzzfeed News, the drummer revealed that Ye’s recent tweets had left him, like many others, without words.

“Him embracing a president that embraces white supremacy, and I don’t know,” Questlove said. “I can’t, which is words like… ‘I just can’t’ or these cliche words that you see people use all the time, but…not like this.”

He continued, “I can’t. Twitter is losing their mind. For the first time yesterday, I thought I was done, and I went to sleep before midnight. Yeah, I don’t like what I’m seeing.”
