Just three months after announcing that he was creating a league to serve as an alternative to college basketball for high school talent, LaVar Ball’s dream is starting to take fruition.

According to a statement given to SLAM, the Junior Basketball Association has created a selection committee and advisory board. Former NBA players Earl Watson and Ed O’Bannon, and Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball will be tasked to help the league launch this summer.

The trio will lead in scouting 17 to 19-year-old talent for a series of open tryouts that will happen across the United States. Starting from April 7th in Seattle, the JBA will hold tryouts in Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Players selected will be flown to LA in June to begin training camp. The JBA will cover the cost of the players’ expenses, including food and lodging. Following a tour throughout the US in the summer, the best players will be taken overseas to play on an international tour. The players will be paid during this time and will have the opportunity to win a luxury car if their team is successful enough to win the league championship.

“We said three months ago that we were in it to change the game, and now we’re excited to finally get to work,” LaVar Ball said in a statement. “This movement shouldn’t just be about catering to top prospects. Any talented baller deserves the chance to get seen and recognized.”
