Fresh off the acclaim he is receiving for his official album Victory Lap Nipsey Hussle appeared on BET's Rate The Bars to give a peer review of lyrics from some of his contemporaries and colleagues.
From the jump, Nip gives fellow West Coast emcee Xzibit's underrate pen some love for the bars he spits on "California Vacation." After reading the cue card with the lyrics, Nip says, "That's fire I give that a 10. That's bar work right there." Though the highest score is out of five. Nipsey also gives Kamiyah another West Coast rapper a four for some of her wittier bars.
What Nipsey seems most impressed with some bars Belly spit during his LA Leakers freestyle. After reading Belly's politically-charged bars, Nip explains why it is compelling lyricism.
."Even if you think about Einstein, why is Einstein a genius?" ponders Nipsey. "Cause he understood how to express a really complex idea, into E=mc2. To me, that represents high intelligence when you can express a complex idea in a simple way."
