On Tuesday in Brockton, Massachusetts, authorities said a woman used a knife to stab and kill her children. She then told police that it was a part of a voodoo ritual.
Assistant District Attorney, Jessica Kenny told a judge that 43-year-old, Latarsha Sanders, attacked both her 8-year-old and 5-year-old son to fulfill a ritual but failed.
A police report relaying the details of an interview with Sanders revealed that she was trying to do “Voodoo stuff”.
Kenny said Sanders eldest son was stabbed 50 times and Sanders admitted to the murder.
Sanders clarified to investigators that she cleaned up the blood on the floor, placed the kitchen knife in the sink and cleaned the boys before putting them in separate beds.
Prosecutors said Sanders reached out to a neighbor asking that she contact the police due to a medical issue. As the authorities arrived, the neighbor informed them that there were children in their Brockton apartment on Monday. However, the boys were last seen by their grandmother the Saturday before.
This has raised suspicions since this is only occurring a couple of weeks after another voodoo-related incident. Two sisters in the neighboring community were charged with permanently disfiguring a young girl and threatening to cut off her young brothers head as part of a voodoo ritual.
