Former Trump advisor Roger Stone believes Donald Trump has what it takes to be reelected in 2020, but he would have to make a change at Attorney General. Speaking with TMZ, Stone explained that Attorney General Jeff Sessions would make it hard for the president to win in 2020 if he continues his crusade against marijuana.

Earlier this year, Sessions announced he was rolling back an Obama-era policy intended to allow legal marijuana use without interference from federal authorities.

The rollback potentially will confuse states like Colorado and Massachusetts considering they legalized marijuana but it remains banned under the federal Controlled Substances Act. The shift in enforcement came days after California legalized the sale of recreational marijuana.

While Trump may look to remove Sessions because he recused himself from dealing the Robert Mueller investigation, Stone believes going after legal marijuana use is enough to give him the ax.

"If Jeff Sessions is allowed to continue as Attorney general and run a crackdown on state legalized marijuana, Trump is going to lose,” Stone said. "This is a very popular position in the country. People overwhelmingly support medicinal marijuana. It’s inconsistent with the president’s position in the campaign. He made a solid pledge to protect the access of millions of Americans to medicinal marijuana, and now his attorney general is f**king it up. Jeff Sessions has got to go."
