Boxing superstar Floyd "Money" Mayweather bet a whopping $5.9 million bet on the Miami Heat winning the NBA Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. His winning bet allegedly earned him a $6.49 million profit.

Mayweather made the bet just after signing a six-fight $200 million contract with Showtime, in addition to agreeing to sign Canelo Alvarez in September for $40 million. Benjamin Lee Eckstein of AmericasLine.com, a nationally-syndicated odds column, spoke to the NY Daily News about Floyd's bet, which he called "ridiculous."

"This is kind of ridiculous. C'mon Floyd. I know that there have been people who walked into a casino and bet a million dollars, but not on basketball. It was always the Super Bowl."

Eckstein added that Floyd likely had to spread the wager across the boards, saying "I don't think that anybody's taking a six million dollar bet at one shot. You'd probably have to call (Vegas mogul) Steve Wynn personally for that."
