Former Nation of Islam minister Conrad Tillard has made quite the political journey. Tillard, who was then called "Conrad Muhammad," joined the Nation of Islam in the '80s as a student at the University of Pennsylvania. He even worked as a coordinator for Rev. Jesse Jackson's presidential run. Now, Tillard is eying a seat on the New York City council.

"There are millions of young people in the New York City school system sentenced to learning by the numbers," said Tillard on improving the NYC school system.

Tillard became known as a "Hip Hop minister" after mediating a truce between A Tribe Called Quest and Wreckx-N-Effect back in the day. He also counseled Diddy and Suge Knight during their beef.
