On Friday, May 17th, Illinois lawmakers gathered and agreed to legalize medical marijuana under a very strict plan. Democrat Governor Pat Quinn has yet to state whether or not he'll sign the bill, but he has stated that he was "open-minded" when it comes to legalizing Mary Jane.  Former prosecutor and Lt. Governor Sheila Simon is in favor of passing the bill.  Apparently, meetings with military veterans and sick patients helped her to come to the conclusion that medical marijuana is helpful in many cases.

According to the bill as it has been established so far, 60 dispensaries will be set up and regulated by the state, at which a patient may purchase up to 2.5 ounces at a time.  Physicians may only prescribe the herbal drug to patients that they already have a relationship with, and the patient in question must have at least one terminal illness or debilitating condition.  Of course background checks will be set in place.
