Nicki Minaj made headlines recently when she decided to throw some politically charged lyrics onto Lil Wayne's Dedication 4 mixtape. Minaj rhymed about being in support of Mitt Romney when she said, "I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney, all you lazy b*tches f*cking up the economy." This line has since fueled quite a bit of skepticism from many of her fans, as it seems fairly odd for Nicki to be in support of a conservative presidential candidate who has very strict views on topics such as birth control and gay rights.
Fellow rappers such as Jay-Z and Young Jeezy have come forward to support Obama for the actions he has taken towards benefiting our nation. Nicki Minaj's lyrics may have actually been a subliminal diss to the Republican party, if you look at it from the perspective of her saying that those who are in support of Mitt Romney are "f*cking up the economy." Regardless of how you slice it, there is one key factor regarding Minaj rapping any politically charged lyrics:
She is not a registered voter in the United States. Nicki has lived in many locations in the U.S., from Georgia to New York to California, but she has never taken the time out to register herself as a voter. So maybe her decision to rap about politics is her way of contributing to the upcoming election by helping to motivate voters to support the right candidate. Hopefully she will come out and address her lyrics in the near future to clear up any confusion about who she is truly supporting.
