Ludacris' record label Disturbing Tha Peace and Island Def Jam Music Group were socked with a lawsuit over the "Playaz Circle" name of a hip hop group featuring 2 Chainz and Dolla Boy.
Torrey Cook filed the suit on August 30, claiming he is the rightful owner of the "Playaz Circle" trademark. Cook admits to working with 2 Chainz and Dolla Boy, but says he never allowed the name to be used. Although he filed suit, Cook has no beef with either of the rappers. His real problem is with Disturbing Tha Peace and Def Jam, whom he believes profited off of the "Playaz Circle" name and logo.
Officially, DTP and Def Jam are being sued for trademark infringement, trademark dilution by blurring, and attorney fees.
