James Holmes' psychiatrist, Dr. Lynne Fenton, allegedly alerted various members of the University of Colorado's "threat assessment committee", that something was wrong with him prior to his violent outburst that resulted in becoming "The Dark Knight Massacre".  She allegedly warned them in early June, however since he dropped out of school on June 10th, University of Colorado officials felt as though there was nothing more that they could do for him since he had already dropped out.

The university's chancellor, Don Elliman stated, "We did everything we think we could have done."

However, according to threat assessment expert, Barry Spodak, the fact that Holmes suddenly dropped out of school should have alerted the university's threat assessment committee to act on the matter further.

"You know, I think that's the signal that you should intensify your efforts, not walk away.  Under those circumstances, most well-trained threat assessment teams would have gone into action."

As a result of the university's lack to act, Holmes ended up killing 12 people, and injuring 58 more during a midnight premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises", with a hail storm of gunfire.  He has since been charged with 24-counts of first-degree murder, and an additional 116 counts of attempted murder.
