Maybe it took employment with the Jets' cross-town, same-stadium rival for punter Steve Weatherford to get his ring, let alone a better contract and a very long 15-minute spotlight, but two nights after the Championship Giants punter received his Super Bowl ring from Tiffany & Co., he decided to let his feelings be known about his former quarterback, Mark Sanchez.

It's not like Sanchez hasn't received a ton of criticism this off-season to begin with, especially since the Jets traded for quarterback Tim Tebow before the draft.

Weatherford questioned Sanchez's maturity in an interview with NFL.com podcast.

"I like Mark -- I think he;s a very talented quarterback -- but from my standpoint, I haven't seen a lot of maturation," he said.  "When you're a quarterback and you come in, and you're expected to be the face of the franchise, and you're expected to lead the team."

"That's a lot to take on a rookie.  But as the years go on, I think you're expected to mature skill-wise, and also as a leader, and to be honest with you, as much as I like the guy, I just haven't seen that."

After back-to-back AFC Championship appearances in 2009 and 2010, the Jets failed to make the playoffs last season, best capped by Santonio Holmes going off at Sanchez in the huddle in the team's season finale at Miami.

Weatherford went from punting for those Jets teams that went to the AFC Championship to winning a championship of his own with the Giants.
