It wasn't a pretty sight when Metta World Peace's elbow connected with the side of James Hardens' neck and head area, knocking him to the court Sunday. But with Peace, who has a reputation for his rough style of play, nothing is a pretty sight.
After the game, he spoke to reporters and stated that despite how vicious the play looked, there was no intent involved.
"During that play I just dunked on (Kevin) Durant and (Serge) Ibaka and I got really emotional and excited and it was unfortunate that James had to get hit with an unintentional elbow".- ESPN
He was ejected from Sunday's game and can expect a fine and possible suspension. Even though it's still a toss up as to whether the blow was intentional or not, stiff penalties are expected.
But Peace, formerly Ron Artest, took to his Twitter account and commented on the incident after watching the replay.
"Hope James Hardin is ok... I remember when I [got] hit by Marc Gasol the same way.. I was spitting up blood and [had] a headache during the game..."
Metta then says he didn't see James as he turned around after his celebration.
"I just watched the replay again..... Oooo.. My celebration of the dunk really was too much... Didn't even see James ..... Omg... Looks bad".
Lastly, Peace tweeted that his nose was broken by Kendrick Perkins possibly at some point during the game.
"Wow.. Didn't really think Kendrick Perkins broke my nose.... Super sore... Basketball too emotional ......."
The NBA has not given its decision yet.
