After an eight month uprising Libyans overtook former leader Maummar Gaddafi, capturing him near Sirte and shooting him in both legs as he tried to escape in a convoy that NATO attacked.
National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid Mlegta revealed that, "He (Gaddafi) was also hit in his head. There was a lot of firing against his group and he died."
Gaddafi's death came quickly after the capture of Sirte, which is a monumental development in the Arab Spring revolts. Rulers in Egypt and Tunsia have already been unseated in the revolts, which also threatened the grip on power of the leaders of Syria and Yemen.
Upon the death of Gaddafi, it is suspected that the remaining NTC will begin developing a new democratic system and begin repairing the conditions in their country.
