It's been just shy of two years since Nicki Minaj's manager Manny Halley cut the ribbon on the Beverly Hills location of Philippe by Philippe Chow, a restaurant also partly owned by Safaree Samuels. Thriving like its New York counterpart, Safaree says it's no easy task owning a high-end restaurant.
When it comes to having a successful business, the "It Is What It Is" rapper says the key is to have "dedication" and to "really put the time into it." He admits that some days can get especially hectic when there's a huge number of reservations being made, recalling a Valentine's Day when Philippe's head chef Steve just stopped cooking because of the large number of orders being handed to him.
Safaree also spoke on Mavado stating that the restaurant is racist, as he went to the New York location back in March with his family and says he was treated poorly because he is Black -- Safaree feels that that would never be the case in either location. "There's nothing but Black people in Phillippe's," he says to his "dog from long time." "Once it's past 5 o'clock, like Charlamagne would say, 'It's straight up Black people in there."
