Mike G of rap group Odd Future has been with the crew for years, but if it wasn't for him hitting up Tyler, the Creator during the earlier days of social media, we might not have ever heard of the rising star.

"I messaged Tyler through Myspace, I believe, [and] asked if I could chop and screw ['The Odd Future Tape']," Mike remembers. After asking Tyler for permission to chop and screw it, he began meeting all of the members to work on their solo and group projects as well as his own. The 24-year-old rapper and DJ - who just released his fourth mixtape last week entitled "Verses II" - was a big fan of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All before he joined, and now four mixtapes and two EPs later, Mike G has become a staple in the hardcore Cali-bred group.

Watch on as he talks about releasing his music at his own consistency, and find out which one of Odd Future's producers Mike G was classmates with before the hype, above.
