The family of Hector Valles have called two Texas police officers heroes after their son was saved by the cops seconds before his crashed SUV burst into flames.

According to the New York Daily News, Officers Ryan Nielson and Autumn Soto spotted Valles and his vehicle on Interstate 30 service road in Mesquite in the early hours of April 19th. Dash cam footage caught the officers running to the burning vehicle and pulling out an unconscious Vellas. As they tried to encourage Vellas that he was safe, the fire begins to spread across the vehicle.

Velles was taken to the Baylord University Medical Hospital where he remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Police believe the driver swerved on the highway and hit a steel pillar. The driver's family deemed Nielsen and Soto heroes but the officer insisted they were simply doing their jobs.

"I can't say that this particular situation has happened all the time, but I think it was just another day at work for us," Nielsen said. "Anybody at this police department would do the same exact thing. We were just there in the right position to get on the service road and help," added Soto.
