Dr. Boyce Watkins sat down with VladTV and shared his thoughts on Kanye West, saying he definitely doesn't agree with everything the "All Day" rapper has to say, but respects Yeezy as "one of the closest things we have to a true artist in the industry." Dr. Watkins believes that many of Kanye's views are in line with is own, saying he wishes West would take more political stances similar to him calling out George W. Bush back in 2005. He also praises Kanye's authenticity, something he says we very rarely get from today's artists, but disagrees with the Chicago spitter that "classism is the new racism."

Racism is still its own separate issue that very much still exists within America, according to Watkins, which is something he thinks one would have to be delusional to not believe. He does, however, realize that Black celebs who reach a certain level of success are often encouraged to distance themselves from their "black self," which is something Kanye may have experienced.

Let Dr. Watkins school you on a few ins and outs of racism above.
