Following Tyus Byrd's successful campaign to become the first black female mayor to be elected in the tiny town of Parma, Missouri, five of the six cops quit the police force, reports the NY Daily News.

Shortly before Byrd was sworn into office, two full-time and three part-time officers submitted their resignations on Tuesday (April 14). Outgoing mayor Randall Ramsey informed news stations that in addition to the cops, the city attorney, clerk, and water treatment supervisor quit their positions as well.

The resigning individuals cited "safety concerns" in their resignation letters, according to Ramsey. Newly elected mayor Byrd has yet to comment on the mass resignations and has since revealed that she has yet to locate the proposed letters of resignation.
