Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who served an impressive three mayoral terms, is in the hot seat. On Feb. 6, the multibillionaire visited international nonprofit organization the Aspen Institute to share his thoughts on a myriad of subjects, from higher education to sticky green.

It was here the politician stepped onto his soapbox to proclaim his thoughts on men of color being armed. In audio that's surfaced since the provocative appearance, Bloomberg insists:

"It's controversial, but first thing is all of your — 95 percent of your murders and murderers, and murder victims fit one M.O. You can just take the description, Xerox it, and pass it out to all of the cops. They are male, minorities, 15 to 25. That's true in New York, it's true in virtually every city in America," claims Bloomberg.

"That's where the real crime is," he adds. "You've got to get the guns out of the hands of the people that are getting killed. First thing you can do to help that group is to keep them alive."

Not surprisingly, Bloomberg asked the Aspen Institute not to release the footage from the talk; a request they honored. However, audio from the event has leaked online.

Aside from being highly inflammatory, it would seem the former mayor's claim is completely wrong, something Town Hall editor Kevin Glass illustrated in a tweet which you can check out in the above slide.
