Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network is continuing its compelling discussion on skin tone with their new documentary "Light Girls," which will be airing on the OWN Network on Monday, January 19th, at 9 p.m. EST and 11 p.m. PST.

This new look at how skin complexion within a particular race causes extreme stereotypes and separation is a follow-up to the critically acclaimed documentary "Dark Girls," which came out in 2011.  This time around, award-winning filmmaker Bill Duke managed to capture the many gripping stories from the other side of the spectrum, as various people of a fairer skin tone reflected on how their skin color caused issues in regards to them being accepted by their own race throughout the course of their lives.  Aside from the negative aspects, there were discussions about the benefits that having lighter skin can bring someone in society, but also how some of the perceptions about light-skinned people having advantages over darker-skinned individuals aren't true.

The discussion went even deeper to touch on the new craze of skin bleaching, bullying, and other dramatic topics revolving around issues of a person's skin color.  Aside from the everyday people who were interviewed for the documentary, there were a variety of celebrities included as well, such a, Amber Rose, Russell Simmons, Iyanla Vanzant, Nya Lee, and many more.
