Suspected Drunk Driver Rams Car Into Police Squad Vehicles

Officers in Lewisville, Texas were able to escape with their lives after a suspected drunk driver crashed into their patrol cars earlier this week.

According to the The Dallas Morning News, Jose Cecilio Fabian-Gonzalez was arrested on Tuesday evening on DWI charges after he drove his pickup truck into two Carrollton Police cars; Carrollton is a neighboring town of Lewisville. An officer who was in one of the squad cars escaped without injury. Dash cam footage was able to catch the near fatal incident as the 29-year-old's truck skidded on the highway and slammed into the cars. Carrollton police spokeswoman Jolene DeVito spoke out about the arrest and the effects of drunk driving.

"The incident once again highlights the dangers of drinking and driving and illustrates why the Carrollton Police Department places a high priority on DWI enforcement."

The legal blood alcohol limit is .08. Gonzalez's blood alcohol content was just over .15.
