Joell explained how he was often met with a lack of respect and heavy judgment because of his Puerto Rican heritage or appearance. He recalled gaining respect from his peers and people in positions of power within record labels, but always being judged beyond his bars because of his background.
Joell went on to discuss his decision to leave Dr. Dre after being signed by him at a younger age. Despite his departure, Joell continued to work hard and wound up joining Slaughterhouse which Dre was very happy with.
