A teenager from Lynwood, Illinois fatally shot himself while talking to a friend on Facetime Thursday night.

According to the Daily Mail, Blake Hannett was on the phone with a friend when he heard a noise. After hearing about suspected intruders in his area, the teen guarded himself with a .38 caliber gun. His friend says he heard a noise and the screen went blank on his phone. Police were called to the teen's home where he was found dead.

Hannett attended Marian Catholic High School and was part of the school's marching band. Principal Steve Tortorello had positive things to say about the popular student.

"Blake was a solid student who always brought life to the classroom. He's the kind of kid that you knew was in class that day because he was a bright and friendly kid."

His friend, Jon Michalski wrote a special post about the teen.

"Blake was the best friend anyone could ask for, you couldn't ask for any one better," he said. "He always knew how to put a smile on mine and everybody else's face no matter what. He was that one person who could get along with anyone. And if you've read any of the news posts you would read about how he has a contagious priceless smile, this is so true."

On Friday, over hundreds of students paid tribute to the teen with prayers and flowers at a special memorial at the high school.
