Erica Mena sat down with VladTV and shared her story of growing up in The Bronx, getting pregnant at 18 years old and how she dealt with her abusive ex.
Mena is a proud Bronx girl, saying that growing up in the rough borough showed her the real and raw nature of the streets. Even going to the store to buy bread can turn into an ordeal, she reveals. The hardest thing for her personally, however, was her need to become bigger than her circumstances and really make a name for herself.
The "Love & Hip Hop" star also shares that she got pregnant at 18 years old while in the middle of an unhealthy and abusive relationship with her son's father, saying she gave up too much of her career, money and power to him. Initially, she mistook his abusive behavior for love, adapting to his behavior.
