40 Cal and Young A$e spoke with VladTV Battle Rap Journalist Michael Hughes about the current state of Hip Hop and whether or not the lyrical content has dwindled.

Both 40 and Young A$e agree that the general Hip Hop fanbase is more receptive of less lyrical music, as opposed to the older generation who really tuned in to hear solid bars.  They both believe that artists get by at times by simply targeting certain groups of younger fans who live according to certain lifestyles such as skateboarding among others.  They also discussed how glorifying the "gangster" image within the Hip Hop culture has lost the impact that it once held when the culture first emerged.
