Almost 15 years ago Afroman hit the airwaves with his controversial hit single "Because I Got High" -- a playful ode to all the classic stereotypes about weedheads: laziness, irresponsibility, and a general hankering for miscreant behavior.

But now with marijuana decriminalization, medical and recreational use, and overall awareness beginning to sweep America, the southern emcee is back with a new remix to his classic joint that aims positively inform voters that weed is actually positive.

'Froman has released a new video, revisiting his hit in conjunction with the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, a.k.a. NORML, and Weedmaps, an app that helps users locate legal marijuana dispensaries.

"With the current political battle with states trying to legalize weed, I thought it was a good time to educate – or set the record straight – about marijuana's benefits, which is why I wanted to remake the song," Afroman told Rolling Stone.

NORML has made the remix the official tune of it's "Smoke The Vote" campaign to raise awareness for the upcoming 2014 elections in which states such as Alaska, Oregon and the District of Columbia will vote on the legalization of marijuana for adults, while Florida will vote on marijuana for medical purposes only.
