Kid Ink sat down with VladTV and discussed his decision to start off his career independently, saying he wanted to be able to have creative control over his music, which is something major labels don't usually allow an artist until they are a few albums in. He feels he made the right decision, as he's proved to labels that he can handle certain aspects of his career independently, while still taking advantage of what they have to offer.

When asked why move to a major when he's had so much success as an independent artist, Ink says he feels there are certain career goals of his that he feels, at least at this point in time, he needs a major label to accomplish. He does, however, shout out artists like Mac Miller who've managed to flourish independently.
