In this clip from his exclusive interview with VladTV Battle Rap Journalist Michael Hughes, Illmaculate spoke about the presence of judges, or lack thereof, in Battle Rap, while also sharing details about his origins within the culture.  Illmaculate began rapping at 11-years-old, and had his first battle at 15.  From there he's competed in all sorts of rap competitions throughout the evolution of the sport.

He feels as though the modern format that the vast majority of leagues operate under offers no real motivation to win, since there is no official judging system to impose wins and losses for battlers.  Illmac believes that unless there are judges used to decide on a winner, then no battler will ever admit to losing, even if the loss is very clear.  He even joked that nobody has lost in the last 5 years.  On the flip side, he understands why battles are left up to the fans to decide.
