R&B crooner Joe sat down with VladTV and shared his story of being raised in the church by preacher parents, not dating until the age of 17, and how his gospel upbringing influenced his R&B sound.

Joe begins by speaking on the common notion that preacher's kids (PK's) are usually pretty wild teens and adults due to having such a restricting childhood, and he believes that while it's true to a certain point, he feels that he and his siblings were well adjusted kids overall. He also says he draws from his gospel roots when it comes to his vocal styling and playing multiple instruments.

The "Stutter" singer then reveals that he couldn't date until the age of 17, and the family was only allowed to listen to gospel music and a few R&B artists.
