Star of the new Adult Swim hit "Black Jesus," Gerald "Slink" Johnson sat down with VladTV where he revealed how the show came about, the extent of creator Aaron McGruder's involvement, and how he feels about Christians boycotting the show.

Slink reveals that "Black Jesus" started off as a sketch show on YouTube as a way to test the waters before moving it to television, which took 7 years to come to full fruition.

"The Boondocks" creator Aaron McGruder is the creator, executive producer, and writer for the show, but gives Slink the creative freedom to improv on set, which he appreciates.

When it comes to protests by certain Christian groups, Slink says that even when "Black Jesus" was only online, they had similar reactions so they were prepared for the backlash. He also says the show aims to take the divinity away from Jesus, to see him as an actual person who was looked down upon for socializing with certain people and doing certain unsavory things, but because the terminology is so different, people may miss the satire.
