Yonkers emcee DMX sat down with Ed Lover to discuss a number of topics, including his alleged past beef with Ja Rule, being named "the voice of the streets," and how Jay Z becoming president of his label changed their relationship as peers in the rap game.

When asked about beefing with Ja Rule, DMX says he never had a real problem with the Queens rapper, explaining that while Ja did get out of line with him, he brushed the situation off, saying "you can't kill your son."

X then says that he doesn't focus on what anyone else is doing and instead gets his motivation from the block, making him "the voice of the streets."

DMX also addressed his relationship with Hov after he became president of Def Jam, explaining that the two always had a mutual respect for each other, and that he hoped Jay would recognize his talent enough to not question his creative decisions.
