A new twist in the ongoing Donald Sterling discussion has risen, as reports have started floating around that he has been deemed "mentally incapacitated."  The news comes from a senior writer for ESPN.com, Ramona Shelburne, as she originally tweeted yesterday, May 29th, that "experts had declared Donald Sterling mentally incapacitated, leaving Shelly (his wife) as sole trustee & power to sell the team."

She followed up that news with word that his wife Shelly had been granted power as "sole trustee," and furthermore, the power to deal with billionaire businessman Steve Ballmer regarding the sale of the team.  Despite what was first reported, Ramona has since updated her Twitter following with news claiming that Sterling's lawyer, Max Blecher, has denied any truth to the claims of mental incompetency.

According to an email, Blecher stated that "Mr. Sterling is far from mentally incompetent."

Sterling was evaluated by neurologists in early May 2014, and Mr. Blecher claims that their finding of mental incompetency are "grossly exaggerated."
