Despite a warning of a recall and possible resignation, a New Hampshire police official isn't apologizing for his racial comments aimed at President Obama.
According to the Huffington Post, Wolfeboro Police Commissioner Robert Copeland was overheard calling the President the N-word at a local restaurant. After a resident complained about his comments to town officials, Copeland emailed her and told her he wouldn't apologize.
"I believe I did use the 'N' word in reference to the current occupant of the Whitehouse, [sic]" he said. "For this, I do not apologize — he meets and exceeds my criteria for such."
During a town meeting, residents threatened officials to force Copeland resign from his position. The town's chairman, Joseph Balboni Jr., says that he doesn't plan on relieving the 82-year-old of his duties.
"He's (Copeland) worked with a lot of blacks in his life," he said. "He said some harsh words about Mr. Obama, and here we are. This woman, she's blowing it all out of proportion."
There are just over 20 African-Americans who live in the small town of 6,300 people.
