In the concluding part of his interview with Elliott Wilson for Life + Times, 2 Chainz reminisced about the earlier days of his solo career, what it's been like since, and how he's stayed true to himself amid the fame and haters.

The interview opens up with Chainz and Wilson discussing who he's been influenced by and his natural state of observation. "I've learned a lot from Cash Money, Baby, in general," started Chainz. "With Wayne I learned some of my more habitual traits. He's a creature of habit so I just picked that up and applied it to me and it works."

After that, Elliot asks the rapper how he felt going from being kind of the underdog, or more locally known, to having a national/international platform and becoming more consistent with the hits. 2 Chainz responded humbly by saying he attributed a lot of it to being the new kid on the block and people gravitating to that. He then went on to say how he didn't necessarily think "Birthday Song" would be a hit, and how he was finding out in the moment what people liked and expected from him as an artist.
