In this throwback clip from 92.3 The Beat's DJ Julio G, DJ Quik, Kam, and Mausberg weigh in on the current sound of West Coast hip hop.

In response to Julio G commenting that many folks can't get behind West Coast rap because of its "gangster" image, Kam chalks it up to a lack of innovation.

"Those who are innovating, get blocked," he explains. "It's too much politics." He goes on to say that getting caught up in the gangbanging lifestlye put a damper on the whole thing, and people don't want to be reminded.

DJ Quik ends the clip by explaining that all people really want is to be entertained, and he relates a very funny analogy that includes Al Green and his mother.
