New York hip hop collective A$AP Mob is putting out some innovative stuff that refuses to be pigeonholed. During a recent sit-down with HipHopDX, group member A$AP Ferg revealed how he discovered that fans of both indie and hip hop were bumping their music.

"First it started off with the whole Pitchfork/Fader Fort crowd, and then it moved to the hood," he explained. "I went back to Harlem and saw that they were f*cking with it, so we kind of bridged the gap between the hippies and the hood ni**as."

Ferg and A$AP Nast moved on to discuss the group's upcoming album "L.O.R.D.," and said that fans who were expecting a March 4 release need to remember that good things take time.

Watch both clips to hear Ferg explain how his art school background play's directly into the group's sound, the genesis of the "Trillmatic" record, seeing Shock G in the subway, and what to expect on "L.O.R.D."
