In this throwback clip from 92.3 The Beat's DJ Julio G, Common discusses the difficulties he's faced in getting his music out there due to the lack of producers and record labels in his hometown of Chicago.

"What I've been doing is just networking a lot out in New York and L.A., trying to just meet as many people as I can, and establish my self and my label," he explains.

"In Chicago we've got some flavor man -- but it's gonna be our time, you know?"
