Charlotte is going back to the hornets as their mascot next season and the NBA team unveiled their new logo right before Christmas, treating fans to a newer, sleeker logo. The new logo pays homage to the old, more recognizable Charlotte logo, but with some added modern updates. 

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield spoke about the change recently, and what the team was looking for when the logo was designed. 

"The logos are the foundation of an organization's brand identity, and our goal was to design logos that would have awareness, be relevant and resonate with our fans. We developed a logo that physically depicted the characteristics and DNA of the type of team we want on the court, as well as those of hornets and the city of Charlotte."
