Tashera Simmons stopped by Power 105.1 recently and chopped it up with The Breakfast Club about her new book, "You Think You Know, But You Have No Idea." Her book is a very revealing and personal look into her troubled life alongside DMX.
While Tashera praised DMX for being very kind to her in the beginning, she went on to shed light on many of their darker moments as well which the general public may not have been aware. DMX's struggles with crack-cocaine are a large focal point of their past issues.
Even though DMX went through a long-lasting battle with drugs and infidelity while with Tashera, she recalled a specific moment when her son Xavier, who was then 14 years old, threatened to kill DMX if he continued to disrespect her as the real reason she decided to leave him.
"I felt like if I left X he was going to die. I sacrificed my happiness. It was to the point where I didn't even care. I was like 'I don't care. If he's cheating. I don't even care. I just want to help him.' I just felt like he needed me so much. But when my son told me one day that if he hears his father talk to me like that he was going to kill him and he was 14 I realized that it is my responsibility as a parent to leave this relationship."
