Rockefeller Plaza was jam-packed with some serious drama this Thursday morning, June 6th, as a deranged man reportedly slashed his wrists right outside of NBC's Studio 1A "Today" Show. Initially, Matt Lauer and the other anchors were apparently set to begin filming the second hour broadcast for the show nearby where the slashing occurred, so were forced to come back inside once the incident began.
The New York Daily News described the individual as being a "deranged suicidal man" who was in his 50's, and was allegedly in possession of two knives. According to various witnesses present at the scene, the man was in an unstable state, ranting about how the IRS "ruined his life" with their corruption.
He is currently being evaluated by medical personnel at nearby hospital. Check out the brief footage above of either a security guard or police officer body slamming the man to the ground in order to subdue him after the slashing took place.
