Rap veteran Scarface will be performing in New York City this month for the first time in over 10 years. In a recent interview, he briefly explains the hip hop culture in NY and the kind of mentality he needs when getting set to perform there. Interview by Cavario H.

You're right about Kool Herc being Jamaican but he didn't start playing breaks until he started DJ'ing in the Bronx on Sedgwick Ave to be exact... Once again, Hip Hop was originated in the Bronx, NY!

Notice how they say the south...an entire region. NYC..one city battles entire regions! Y'all need a we are the world song for you southerners. Don't get mad at Face for speaking truth. The south has only a handful of classics. NYC got classic records with substance..go from the 70's til present and you will see the shit y'all doing we did already, twice. NYC got love for the South and Face! Just keep it original and creative because this new south shit is really just pop dance fairy tale trash, straight up!

Ya'll music didn't have substance until Public Enemy came on the scene(somebody that was actually saying something) and not how freaks were coming out at night, and that half-steppin' shit. As, for the south people like Scarface, UGK, 8ball &MJG, Master P were real niggas that was speaking real shit, and something you niggas could never relate too, that's why ya'll stay with the south's name in your mouth. Big Krit, Tito Lopez, Le$, M.U.G are some niggas from the south that spit real shit, but ya'll wanna talk about Gucci, Waka and them niggas that we know are lame.

i agee ny made hip hop but in ny i just notice like a lot of hate towards each other and not working together.like they got radio stations their beefing with each other it turn into other than music and haveing fun.and i know theirs a lot of good cats who can do some hot shit for ny.and change it.its like everyone forgot wat hip hop stand for.also i notice everyone wants to rap like everyone lol and i think that took away from the good cats who does have talent,talent like know how to make good songs good moves not just spot any one can do that.i say get the wannabes out the way search for the good talent than every freaking state can be on top not even battleing each other just all the good talent on top and let the other ppl be fans again,u cant even find a fan in ny everyone wanbts to rap its crazy.and thar my friend what messed up rap.
